Abstract
The use of data warehouse has evolved with time. The number of data sources also continue to increase with the increasing number of days. This has led to the formation of data warehouse, so as to preserve the historic information. The application of data warehouse can now be found in almost every field either it is medical, banking etc. especially in the education sector. Many universities around the world are using their data warehouse for analysis and taking important decisions. However, when considering Pakistan, HEC has not yet implemented any model of Data warehouse. This is one of the many reasons that universities of Pakistan are unable to compete with international standards of education. Thus, the aim of this paper is to propose the framework to Higher Education Commission of Pakistan to build their own data warehouse. Detailed architecture of DW has been formulated along with the standard format of data attributes. Short-term and Long-term plans are stated that HEC can use while creating their Data Warehouse. Long term plan includes the proposed schema as well as standard data format for centralized database of HEC.
