Abstract
Observing the right to property from the angle of human right, it could be perceived that it is an essential component of freedom and development. In his literature Levy maintains that, free speech is of little value to a person who has no entitlement on property. Property ownership is basically grounded on considered and intrinsic values of human right. In many capitalist societies women are still being vulnerable and subjected to exploitation which emerges from their exclusion from property ownership rights. The right to human dignity in terms of social recognition, makes an assertion that without personal property an individual is not a full human being. Legislative amendments were made by the state of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Maharashtra in the Hindu Succession Act.
