Abstract

This paper studied the alternative passivation layer of ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) films, which are mainly used as the passivation layer of solar cells. As the organic/inorganic composite hybrid solution was formed on the passivation layers of copper indium gallium selenide (CIGS) solar cells. The hybrid solutions were prepared with polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and sodium alginate (SA), using a spray coating process. That resulted in a relatively reduced weight, shorter processing time and excellent flexibility compared to the conventional passivation layer using EVA films. Furthermore, the study showed that the passivation layer of solar cells can increase the recycling probability of solar panel-related waste.
