Abstract
Properties of Na + ions in ZSM-5 zeolite with a ratio of Si Al = 685 were studied by the methods of dielectrics and 23Na MAS n.m.r. In both dielectric and MAS n.m.r. spectra, a single peak attributable to the Na + ion was observed and it was concluded that there was a single type of Na + ion in this zeolite, in contrast to the case for the zeolite with Si Al = 13 , which contained two types of Na + ions. From the comparison of properties of both zeolites, it was found that the Na + ion left in the present zeolite has the following properties in comparison with the Na + ion lost: It has a larger activation energy for movement, less affinity for adsorbed water molecules, and a more uniform microscopic environment of its neighbors.
