Abstract
In hagfish, thyroid tissue incorporation of radioiodine into proteins associated with cellular particulate matter reached a level of more than 50% of the total labeled iodoproteins. Only a single 3-8S iodoprotein was found by sucrose density gradient centrifugation of the soluble protein obtained from thyroid tissue by ultracentrifugation. No 19S thyroglobulin was found. Labeled thyroxine amounted to 2.5% of the total 131I in proteins.
