Abstract

Amorphous carbon films were prepared by magnetron sputtering of a graphite target. Their electrical and optical properties obey the relationship governing the conduction mechanisms in amorphous semiconductors. Their microscopic and structural properties are characteristic of physically vapour-deposited films. A scattering of single crystals of carbon in an amorphous carbon matrix was obtained by triode sputtering of a graphite target.
