Abstract

The authors determined the properties and the phase and chemical compositions of chamotte produced from kyanite-sillimanite concentrate by various methods. It was established that firing the briquette in a rotary kiln at 1640–1680°C with a holding time of about 40 min results in a more complete mullitization of the minerals of the kyanite-sillimanite concentrate than firing in an intermittent kiln at 1580°C with a holding time of 6 h.
