Abstract

The article raises the problem of proper names related neologisms that serve the aims of expressivity in the texts of social networks. The research is focused on the word-formation peculiarities of proper names related neologisms in social networks. The research material was selected during 2020-2023 from the social network Twitter; the material reflects the general public’s mood and the preoccupations of netizens.
 Neologisms of social networks are close to author neologisms, since their appearance is connected to a greater extent to the stylistic features of the texts of social networks, than to the need to name new realities.
 Expressive neologisms and proper names interact in two ways: a) a proper name is the basis for creating a proper name related neologism that can belong to almost any part of speech; b) appellatives and their combinations borrow the form of the proper name. In both cases, it is the question of onymic game, i.e. the process of forming of occasionalisms and neologisms. Proper name related neologisms are established through a number of word-forming and semantic changes. We mostly attest to a combination of different methods (for example, borrowing + composition, composition + suffixation, etc.). With each repeated use, the expressiveness of a neologism is lost, which is why users may eventually abandon its use: due to the effect of lack of surprise. Some innovations are used occasionally since they are appropriate only in a certain narrow context. Neologisms of social networks depend on the socio-political context, so trying to create lexical units that contradict this context (even purely on an emotional level) is doomed to failure.
 Expressive use of proper name related neologisms is characteristic of all languages under examination (Ukrainian, French, English) with some differences in the ways of their formation.
