Abstract

Myxoma virus will multiply in vitro and in vivo in the Daels guinea pig sarcoma. It produces cell destruction in vitro but has no oncolytic effect in vivo. It only produces a transient infection of the tumor, which becomes resistant to reinfection; it could not be carried in series by transplantation of infected tumors. Fibroma virus will also multiply and cause cell destruction in vitro but fails to multiply in the tumor in vivo.
