Abstract

Theoretical and experimental dispersion curves are presented for the lowest-order fast-wave mode of propagation along a circular wave-guide partially filled with a cylindrical plasma column. The variation of the power flow density with radius within the plasma is used to account for the discrepancies between theory and experiment. These discrepancies are due to the non-uniformity of the electron number density within the plasma.
