Abstract

Properties of slow electromagnetic surface waves propagating acrossan external magnetic field in planar plasma waveguides on theharmonics of ion and electron cyclotron frequencies are studied in thepaper. The considered waveguide structures consist of metal plateswith dielectric coating and plasma filling. The external steadymagnetic field is supposed to be oriented perpendicularly to theplasma interface. The analytical research is carried out using akinetic description for plasma particles, the mirror reflection modelfor the interaction between particles and plasma boundary. Parametricexcitation of surface cyclotron waves (SCW) are investigated as well.Effects of the waveguide parameters on the SCW dispersion andparametric instability increments are studied both analytically andnumerically.
