Abstract

The problem of propagation and interaction of optical solitons in fibers with variable parameters has attracted a lot of interest recently. Fibers with periodic amplification and/or dispersion are an important example [1, 2]. It was shown recently that fibers with periodic dispersion management can be used as long-haul optical transmission systems using solitons [3]. In a real fiber we always have together with the artificially produced inhomogeneities random modulations of the parameters. So it is interesting to investigate the influence of random modulations on optical solitons dynamics in fibers.
