Abstract

Few educators doubt that self‐esteem plays a significant role in the achievement of disabled readers, yet many lack a practical knowledge of how to build positive feelings of self‐worth in special and regular classrooms. Seven guidelines for building supportive learning environments for children experiencing reading difficulties are presented.
