Abstract

The introduction of gender-neutral school textbooks in Kerala represents a significant step towards dismantling entrenched gender roles within Indian society. By depicting fathers in kitchens and engaging in domestic chores, these textbooks challenge traditional stereotypes and promote gender equality from an early age. This paper explores the themes and implications of these educational reforms, examining how they contribute to the broader movement for gender justice in Kerala. Through an analysis of textbook content, pedagogical strategies, and societal reactions, the paper assesses the potential impact on students' perceptions of gender roles and the long-term benefits of fostering a more inclusive and equitable society.
