Abstract

This paper aims to focus on the perception of gender roles and its problematical issues emerged in society. The mentioned problematical issues have been investigated in Ancient Greece, where women were ignored and held under pressure with ideas supported the occurrence of patriarchal society. It is thought that the philosophical, literal and artistic works of this period were used as a tool not only to emphasize the differences between genders, but also to make the society to believe this order. From this point of view, the social structure of the mentioned era is examined through the use of artworks, philosophic and literary studies to analyze the perception, structure and reflections of gender roles in addition to their reasons
