Abstract

Oil and gas are known to occupy the leading place in the fuel balance, constituting the backbone of the current technical progress. The sustainable growth of explored hydrocarbon reserves is a major strategic factor of ensuring the country’s energy security. The need for improving the environmental and economic efficiency of exploration requires new approaches and methods. Detection of the infrasonic noise fields of oil and gas deposits is one such method. The prospects for its introduction into practical exploration are discussed by Academician A.Yu. Tsivadze, director of the Frumkin Institute of Physical Chemistry and Electrochemistry, Russian Academy of Sciences.
