Abstract

This article presents the negotiations and the process behind the construction of the command post codenamed „Albatros” at Sieraków Śląski near Częstochowa in the 1970s. The structure was to serve as the forward command post of the United Armed Forces of the Warsaw Pact in the event of the outbreak of World War III. The site was to be connected to the BARS No. 201 tropospheric communication system. The paper also presents the plans that were drawn up to expand the facility in the 1980s.
