Abstract

One of the problems resulting from the motorization of the Polish Armed Forces concerned traffic accidents. During the war they were the source of significant losses for the 2nd Polish Corps and the 1st Armored Division. A large percentage of these incidents were caused by non-compliance with road traffic regulations and the recommendations of traffic control services, recklessness, and alcohol abuse. These accidents placed additional pressure on the health service, workshops, and the gendarmerie. This phenomenon intensified at the end of the war and continued into its immediate aftermath.
