Abstract
Projectile K X-ray production as a function of target thickness is measured for 20–80 MeV Cl ions incident on thin Cu targets. A large enhancement in the X-ray production is observed for incident charge state q=Z1-1. The data are parametrized according to the model of Betz et al.1) From the fitting parameters the mean fluorescence yield and the radiative lifetime for K-shell decays are determined.
