Highlights
The implementations of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) models focused on the patient’s perspective are needed to identify potential consequences and gaps of clinical practice and to improve quality of care
A workshop with the Advisory Board was focused on collecting technological trends in mental health and identifying specific technological initiatives based on the Ideal-Patient Journey (PJ)
PJ-Map was defined by 9 stages and their corresponding experiences and expectations of patients and caregivers, and by 16 processes involved in the care of patients
Summary
The implementations of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) models focused on the patient’s perspective are needed to identify potential consequences and gaps of clinical practice and to improve quality of care. This is important for patients with complex conditions, such as patients with schizophrenia and persistent symptoms, who consume more healthcare resources and require an integrated care. Patient Journey methodology could meet this concern. The aim of this study was to validate the itinerary of patients with schizophrenia in the healthcare system and define an appropriate technological solution for their needs
