Abstract

The standardized patient or simulate patient (SP) plays treble roles in the clinical teaching and training: the role of a patient, the role of a teacher and the role of an evaluator. The SP has been widely used in clinical skill teaching and assessment in medical colleges and universities at home and abroad. This article reviews the progress of SP in general practice education and training, to provide the knowledge base for promoting its wide application in field of general practice.
