Efforts to understand molecular mechanisms of the metabolic memory have been focused on the epigenetic modification. The epigenetic modification plays an important role in the pathogenesis of diabetic nephropathy, including fibrosis, inflammation, oxidative stress, and disorders of glucose metabolism and lipid metabolism, which was reviewed in this article, in order to provide new ideas for further molecular research, diagnosis, and treatment.
