Abstract

The archaeological dose (AD) derived from the g = 2.0006 line of the ESR spectra of foraminifera from deep sea cores V12-122 and 13519 lies close to the expected value derived from the specific radioactivity and the known ages of the sediment layers. To the contrary, the archaeological dose (AD) for the g = 2.0034 line is approx. a factor of 2 larger than the total dose expected. On the basis of the present data, the thermal life time of the electron traps corresponding to the ESR-line at g = 2.0006 line is estimated to > 750,000 yr. The k α factor of foraminifera should be ≤0.1.
