Abstract

Current tendencies in the realization of one of the most important trends in the chemistry of polyolefins are reviewed — polymerization of ethylene, propylene and higher α-olefins. Special attention is paid to the problems of producing new highly effective and selective catalytic systems, including homogeneous, among which it has been possible to synthesize new metallocomplex systems with stereoregulating possibilities. The results of the latest research into the nature of the active centres and mechanism of metallocomplex catalysis of the polymerization of the α-olefins are also characterized. The authors report the results of the development of new procedures of radical polymerization of ethylene under high pressure. Some general ideas are expressed on the prospects for further development in the field considered.
