Abstract

In order to increase the magnetic flux of the CFETR, two options are being explored in parallel for the electromagnetic optimization of the central solenoid (CS), based on conceptual conductor designs. For the baseline design, high-Jc and ITER-grade Nb3Sn CICC conductors are used in the High-Field (HF) and Low-Field (LF) sub-coils separately to improve the engineering (WP) current density and thus to increase the magnetic flux. For the backup design, ReBCO and high-Jc Nb3Sn CICC conductors are adopted in the HF and LF sub-coils separately to enhance the peak field of the CS coil. By optimizing the WP configuration and the jacket thickness through an iteration process, the electromagnetic designs for the two options are introduced. Then static mechanical analyses for the WPs have been performed to preliminarily evaluate the integrity of the jackets and the insulations. And more detailed designs and analyses will be conducted in the next step.
