Abstract
This issue of News & Views will focus on events reported prior to and during the 46th Annual Scientific Session of the American College of Cardiology, March 16-19, 1997, in Anaheim, CA, USA. Topics to be discussed include the results of recently completed clinical trials involving plasminogen activators used in the treatment of acute myocardial infarction (MI), glycoprotein (GP) IIb/IIIa inhibitors used in the treatment of unstable angina pectoris and non-Q wave MI, an update on the treatment of MI complicated by cardiogenic shock, and optimal diagnostic strategies for patients who have sustained a non-Q wave MI.
