Abstract

This issue of News & Views will focus on events reported prior to and during the 46th Annual Scientific Session of the American College of Cardiology, March 16‐19, 1997, in Anaheim, CA, USA. Topics to be discussed include the results of recently completed clinical trials involving plasminogen activators used in the treatment of acute myocardial infarction (MI), glycoprotein (GP) IIb/IIIa inhibitors used in the treatment of unstable angina pectoris and non‐Q wave MI, an update on the treatment of MI complicated by cardiogenic shock, and optimal diagnostic strategies for patients who have sustained a non‐Q wave MI.
