Abstract

The research was carried out with the objective of demonstrating that the application of the “real problems” program improves the attitude towards mathematics in first-grade secondary school students at the “Miguel Grau Seminario” school in Salaverry in 2019. It was decided to work on a quasi-experimental design with pre and post test (attitude towards mathematics scale) to a sample of 46 students distributed in 2 groups: control and experimental, with the latter the “real problems” program was executed for two months. Then the data obtained in the tests were processed through the student's T statistical test for comparison of means; for both groups; and difference of means for related samples in the experimental group; in the later, the results reflected that the value of the T statistic at the 0.05 level of significance had a p-value of p < 0.05, with which demonstrated that the “real problems” program significantly improved the attitude towards mathematics in 1st grade secondary school students.
