Abstract
The importance of negative final margins of resection to optimize local control has been established for women with ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS; intraductal carcinoma) undergoing breast conservation therapy. This study specifically evaluated if reexcision or the presence of residual tumor in the reexcision specimen predicted for local recurrence in patients with negative margins.
