Abstract
Background: The proximal resection margin length after subtotal gastrectomy is still on debate. In the preview study from the authors, margins less than 3cm didn´t have any influence on survival, however, there was still a trend to increased recurrence without statistical significance. Still, some studies imply that proximal resection margin could have impact on stage I patients due to the absence of adverse prognostic features in these patients. The authors pretend to evaluate the potential impact on prognosis of proximal resection margin after subtotal gastrectomy for stage I distal gastric adenocarcinoma.
