Abstract
Professional involvement in community mental health centers and other inner city agencies, especially schools, requires a new kind of professional collaboration and participation in the community's social and political processes. Current questions are: Can involvement be professional, effective, responsive to changing community needs and survive conflicting pressures? Can and should these skills be taught?
