Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to, considering the educational system as an ''educational market'', identify and describe new directions for paradigm of management in education, and on that basis to emphasize the importance of professionalization of management in education. The structure of this paper is made of three research parts. In the first part the educational system is presented in the whole as an ''educational market'' whose development cannot be supported by ''conducted'' managing patterns, but just managing styles and models based on knowledge and skills. The second part the deals with the analysis of the present condition of the ''educational offer'' for the leaders/managers in education, either in the terms of in-servis education. In the third part the results of empirical research about the needs of school principals are analyzed (using the modern andragogical models for research of educational needs) and on that basis the strategies and models of continues development of professional competence among leaaders/managers in education are suggested.
