Abstract
For 17 years, SEG has recognized prominent geophysicists as instructors for the SEG Distinguished Instructor Short Course (DISC), formerly known as the SEG/EAGE Distinguished Instructor Short Course. Established in 1998, the DISC has reached more than 30,000 participants and has expanded into one of SEG's most popular offerings. Selection as the DISC instructor is viewed as a major honor and recognition of distinction by SEG. The instructor is a prominent geophysicist whose work and presentation appeal to a wide audience, ranging from students to professionals, and the course is based on a topic of current and widespread interest.
