Abstract

Time-resolved mass spectrometry of positive and negative ion species and time-resolved Langmuir probe measurements were carried out in a pulsed hydrogen discharge. Both measurement techniques show a strong increase of the H- density in the post-discharge. The experimental results are in good agreement with a theoretical model describing the generation of H- in the post-discharge. In addition, results for the time-resolved temperatures of positive and negative ions were obtained.
