Abstract

1. The author showed the possibility of producing continuous electrode strip for alkaline storage batteries by rolling cadmium oxide powder with additions of nickelous hydroxide and Na-carboxymethylcellulose, which improves the pressibility of the mass. The strip can be produced in various thicknesses and densities. 2. To increase the mechanical strength of the strip, upon discharge from the rolls it is covered with alkali-resistant paper which makes it possible to cut the strip into separate plates by guillotine shears or a punch. When gluing paper on the strip is not applicable, the strip can be cut by an emery-vulcanite wheel revolving at high speed.
