Abstract

The moderating effects of production feedback and standards, singly or jointly, on the relationship between worker satisfaction and productivity were investigated in a repetitive production task. No substantial or consistent correlation was found between worker satisfaction and productivity and in general the correlation coefficient values were not statistically significant. Contrary to the expectation, many correlation coefficient values were negative. The incorporation of production feedback and standards affected worker satisfaction and productivity differently and this had an effect on the satisfaction-productivity relationship. For not finding consistent or substantial relationship between worker satisfaction and productivity, possible reasons were provided. The needs for future research were stated.
