Abstract
Norddeutsche Affinerie AG (NA) of Hamburg, Germany, one of the world's major copper producers, celebrates its 125th anniversary this year. The company's name is closely connected with the invention of electrolysis. In 1876 the first electrolytic refinery commenced production in Hamburg, and in the 1930s copper powder was added to NA's product family. Today, the company says that it is not only the largest European manufacturer of electrolytic copper powders, but also leads in the production of atomized copper powder and alloy powders. A new production plant for atomized copper powder is currently under construction. The following article deals with the present state of metal powder production by electrolytic methods.
