Abstract

Adequate modelling of the flight tracks is essential for accurate aircraft noise calculation. In the revised German guideline on data preparation for aircraft noise calculations AzD, the format for flight tracks is exactly prescribed. According to this guideline the flight geometry is given as a sequence of straight lines and circular arcs. In normal practise the geometry of the flight tracks is derived from standard procedures published in aeronautical charts. In order to take more account of the real course of the flight tracks a new procedure was developed at Empa. This procedure enables us to derive the parameters of the flight geometries required for noise calculations according to AzB, directly from radar data.
