Abstract

Objective To analyze the procedure and effects of fenestration decompression combined with curettage for adult patients with large jaw cyst. Methods A total of 56 adult maxillary cysts treated from June 2016 to June 2018 in hospital were selected, and divided into two groups. Patients in the control group were treated with curettage; and patients in the observation group were treated with fenestration decompression. The stage II curettage was arranged according to the condition. Results Compared with the control group, the observation group had less bleeding, shorter operation time, lower visual analogue scale score, higher cystic volume reduction and bone hyperplasia thickness, shorter cyst healing time, lower complication rate and the recurrence rate (P<0.05). Conclusions The treatment of adult large jaw cysts with fenestration decompression + stage II curettage can achieve better therapeutic effects, which is beneficial to the healing of cystic cavity and reducing the complication rate and recurrence rate. Key words: Jaw cyst; Fenestration decompression; Curettage
