Abstract
The article explores the impact of the canonical marriage law of the Russian Orthodox Church on the socio-cultural life in traditional Ossetian society. The article describes the activities of the church that influenced the institution of the family in the context of the post - reform transformation. The results of the work are of particular value for further research and understanding of the transformational processes in all areas of the Ossetian society in the 19th century, which became the basis for revising some foundations in the context of marriage and family regulation.
