Abstract
Abstract A brief outline of the history of the metric system leading to the International System of Units (SI) is followed by a description of the problems affecting the surveyor before, during and after the conversion period. It is assumed that metrication and integration will occur together. A few examples of computing in SI units are given with dimensional checks. A comprehensive bibliography is attached.
