Abstract
Both problematic Internet use (PIU) and self-injurious behavior (SIB) prevalence rates appear to be increasing. PIU has been associated with depression, anxiety, and substance use in adolescents. SIB, defined as deliberate bodily injury without lethal intent, can co-occur with these psychiatric disorders and is associated with increased suicidal risk. Thus, understanding the relationship between PIU and SIB has clinical implications.
