Abstract

This book, a product of collective work, brings together a series of texts that take territory as a starting point as an explanatory and analytical category of the various forms of social construction of space and the dynamics that arise around the control, appropriation and management of local resources; through local experiences, methodological proposals and theoretical reflections from different social disciplines. The aim is to contribute with a broad and diverse vision of the ways in which communities construct meanings, identities and uses around local resources, providing the territory they inhabit with material and symbolic attributes. To this end, the book is structured in three thematic parts: 1) territorial actors and alternative economies; 2) heritage and processes of social appropriation of space; and 3) therapeutic resources, contaminated environments and quality of life.
