Abstract

The conservatoire model for the teaching of the young adult classical singer has evolved and been in use for 200 or more years. The main ‘ fi rst study ’ module of the 3- or 4-year degree courses remains the 1-hour (or in some cases 90 minutes) weekly one-to-one lesson with a singing teacher.
