Abstract

Summary A primary squamous cell carcinoma of the lower third of the trachea is reported in a man of 63 years who had been a heavy smoker. A massive secondary deposit was present in the upper mediastinum when the patient was admitted. Cardiac arrest terminated a technically successful resection. Necropsy failed to demonstrate any further metastases.
