Abstract

Objective To investigate the efficacy of interventional bronchoscopic therapy by summarizing the clinical data of 17 patients with advanced primary squamous cell carcinoma of trachea. Methods The clinical data of 17 patients with advanced primary tracheal squamous cell carcinoma in Mentian general hospital from September 2011 to July 2013 were retrospectively analyzed.Among these patients,five patients received chemotherapy combined with interventional bronchoscopic procedure,and the other 12 patients received only interventional bronchoscopic treatment.And the main interventional bronchoscopic techniques include electric snare,high-frequency electrocautery,argon plasma coagulation, and carbon dioxide cryoablation.Fifteen out of 17 cases were received under general anesthesia the use of rigid lens,were inserted combined with soft lenses operate,and two cases operated separately under electronic bronchoscopic. Results The symptoms of 17 patients were unspecific.The most common symptoms were cough,hemoptysis,chest tightness,shortness of breath and wheezing after activity.After treatment,their symptoms,signs,karnofsky performance scores,dyspnea scores,and the degree of airway setenosis were improved significantly. Conclusions Bronchoscopic interventional therapy might play important roles in improving life quality of patients with advanced tumors of trachea who are non-surgical candidates.
