Abstract

The wavepacket motion and state-selective excitation of harmonic and anharmonic oscillators by intense, monochromatic IR laser radiation are studied by a solution of the relevant quantum-mechanical equations of motion. The results are discussed in the framework of their importance as models for the primary photophysical processes in IR photochemistry.
