Abstract
In order that the data may be available to those interested in price trends and in the valuation of water works, and may be added to Table 32, page 489 on Price Trends of Labor Construction, Materials and Supplies of Water Works in the United States of the Manual, they are presented below. The first group covers the fluctuation of prices for various types of single stage centrifugal pumps of less than 125 horse power for motor drive, including the bed plate and coupling. The cost of the electrical equipment has been excluded, as it would cover a considerable range, depending upon the type of current, voltage, starting equipment, etc. The second group covers the fluctuation in prices of single stage centrifugal pumps of more than 125 horse power for motor drive, including bed plate and coupling and excluding electrical equipment. The third and most significant group covers the fluctuation of prices for turbine-driven units of large size. The fourth group covers the fluctuation in prices for small turbinedriven multi-stage centrifugal pumps. It will be noted that the present day price upon the first group (small motor driven units) of less than 125 horse power, is very little above the pre-war price. This is accounted for largely by the fact that the pump casings are now being manufactured in quantity. On the other hand, the prices on motor driven pumps of larger capacity than 125 horse power have risen more in accord with the general increase in cost of labor and materials, since these pumps cannot be put through the shop in quantity lots.
