Abstract

The article is a contribution to identify and define the preventive role of logistics in the disaster. By reviewing the current state of knowledge were selected a definition of disaster and combined it with the use of logistics in the disaster. Considerations focused on the stage occurring before the disaster (i.e. pre-disaster stage). The set of logistics functions in the process of pre-disaster has been selected and characterized. To illustrate the theoretical considerations the case study of train crash in Szczekociny has been used.
