Abstract

Abstract The results of two groups of experiments performed with preview and compensatory displays are discussed. In one of them the influence of the input signal bandwidth and controlled element dynamics on the potential of a preview display for decreasing the pilot workload and improving task performance were studied. The other group of experiments was dedicated to potential of preview display for suppression of pilot-induced oscillations in the case where the nonlinear effects (actuator’s rate limit) are considered in the controlled element dynamics. The last group of experiments was performed with input bandwidth ωi = 0.5 rad/s.
